Chinese Dynasty Buffet on Father's Day

Today was Pappa's Day.

It was also a Saturday and a special shopping day given to us by our church to help replace some of the seasonal essentials that were lost. That was the heart of our day. It was more than appreciated. I can't express how much their support has been...the support of everyone, even now. I know the fire might seem like it happened a long time ago. Today was the seven month mark - to the day. Seven months.

But that isn't the focus of today's post.

Today's memory.

Today we went to The Chinese Dynasty Buffet.

All you can eat

Chinese

&
SUSHI.
I don't like sushi, but Bee does.

He makes beautiful sushi so it's a shame I don't like it. I want to.He doesn't feel inspired to make sushi for one. I understand that. So you can see the allure of this place.

For me it's the gaudy decor and the honeydew.

For me it's delightful to see Bee so excited by something so simple. Chinese buffet.

Hello, food! We are coming!

I am at a booth at my first buffet. However my mamma is over there and that is the only buffet I am concerned with.

Does this one need a caption?

Tee's become curious over what I am eating or drinking. He's thinking there might be something to it. He isn't ready yet, but tastes are all right. I let him sample some honeydew flavor from the fruit. It's a keeper!

Pappa's blah blah blah FOOD! Tee's all, hmmmmm this sweatshirt from Amira is dashing!

Oh, well here's our family <3

The rest of the afternoon was wonderful. Bee got threads for work and I got bottoms - jeans & skirts - the things that are harder for me to dig up at second hand shops. We both scored some major deals. I didn't find winter/rainy boots but I received a giftcard specifically for replacing those. While we were out I found the neatest invention! They're these socks that look like overgrown bedroom-comfy socks. Well, they are rainboot-liners! That means I can find a fun pair! I had a pair once but they are cold inside and the texture is expected for goloshes. I found mittens with a cutesy fairy princess yarned into the pattern. They're very adult. No, really! They're for adults. Adults like me! Those were my highlights. When we go to Marshall's or a similar store I like to pick out one book for Tristan. They're discounted & new. I would like him to have a solid collection of books for his shelf. I hope they don't switch to Kindle Baby because there is something lovely about holding a book in your hands. Tonight I picked out Olivia's Opposites. She's a whimsical pig and I'm drawn to the illustrations of her. Tristan is pretty taken with a book called "My Circus" right now. It's pictures are striking, bold. Cut-outs lead to the next page and the story falls into place even though it's only captioned. The other library book that is so good it can send him into gales of laughter is "Waddle."

We'll see what he thinks of Miss Olivia.

He was an angel today, all day. We came home and managed to stay on schedule. He's had his French-scented bath and crawled into fire engine jammies. He's in between sizes so I'm glad autumn arrived. Pretty soon I'll have to see if there are donations that match the season and his size up in the attic. I organized them in bins not knowing what we'd need, or when. Auntie Karin was the one who made that happen. I was frozen over the project. Afraid that if I set up for Tee - if I attempted to nest for a third time something might go horribly wrong. But it didn't and here he is in his fire engine 'jams.

I feel I should mention that our preemie community lost a friend last night. His name was Michael. He was born at 24 weeks and spent two, very difficult months in NICU. His rollercoaster had a lot of dips but we all prayed and held hope - he was such a fighter! His family is lovely - his mother - his mother is beautiful. The Lord chose her well. She touched all of the preemie moms with her vibrant love for her son. She's an inspiration, but right now she is feeling a loss I can't imagine. She needs support and prayers from friends and strangers. So, dear reader, please say a prayer for Michael's family before you close your eyes tonight.
