We'd been at HUP-NICU for 50 days, home for two weeks, then CHOP-NICU for 8 days.
On our second-to-last day of CHOP we made our only friend(s). 56 days & not a single person had responded to my hellos or tried to start a conversation. Granted I'd often fall into a hole and barely even speak with my nurses, but I felt pretty out-going for most of our stay. I wanted to know people who could empathize, not just sympathize. The biggest support came from the ladies online - never the next isolette over. It's a hard place to describe, so it meant a lot to read this today:
