One Girlie Afternoon

Yesterday Ava-dahling joined Tee & me for brunch. I made orange-spiced pancakes. Tee showed off his ever-improving high chair-sitting skills. Our plan for the afternoon was to do our nails! I have the new Revlon Scented Polish in Sublime Strawberry. It caught my eye when I went to pick up another round of Tee-meds at CVS the other day. Scented polishes make their appearances every so often - but not so often - and I couldn't resist. I made my selection based on color in case the product failed miserably.

The review: it's really pretty, but goes on a little streakier than I'd like. That's probably due to the scented molecules that last a few hours after putting in on; it smells delicious! Like strawberry bubblegum - which is its exact color. Pretty! But not anything I'd stock up on assuming these polishes won't be around longterm.

Now Ava had a fancier trick! I've seen the newsprint nail craze that's floating around the internet but have been too lazy to pick up the vodka the recipes I'd read called for...well, I must have been reading the sorority versions because Miss Ava-dahling showed up with a bottle of rubbing alchohol. Duh! I'm quite literal most of the time.

She cut up pieces of paper while I painted my nails white then dunked them in [rubbing] alcohol and applied them to my dry nails. So simple - so cool! Nails for nerds! I'm missing my comic-books-for-craft-project collection at our old apartment. I think The Sandman would be perfect but then again nails are pretty small and Judy Blume or yesterday's news work just as well.

Ava solved the streaky-pink problem by adding sparkling strawberries on top of the similarly scented polish. A finish with flair!

Now we will model our first attempt at nerd-nails and elegantly-scented mani-pedis with you:
